I'm glad Southgate is criticizing Gerrard's positional play - it's woeful...has been for years (same with Lampard!). That's why they can't play together - both not got the brains to make their skill pay.Comment

Agreed, Rooney also plays as if he is God's gift and the wingers just cannot realise his genius. Seeing Andy Johnson pussy footing around him was sickening.Originally posted by Muttley08 View PostI'm glad Southgate is criticizing Gerrard's positional play - it's woeful...has been for years (same with Lampard!). Get Rooney off and keep it simple lads. Stop lumping it forward to Crouch, they have marked him out of the game. This game needs tactics, and varied ones.Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.Comment

Rooney is woeful at the moment. He should have been pulled off in the WC and he should not be playing now.
