Talking of police - our hotel is next to train station (ibis) - 270 euros per night, more than london ffs, anyway - lots of police cyrens (sp?) overnight, it's like crime capital or something!

Perfect location for unified federal European Govt

You're next to the station and can't find a place to eat? Have you got myopia? Last time I was in Brussels there were loads of places around the station to eat and drink, got quite happy there actually.
Brexit is having a wee in the middle of the room at a house party because nobody is talking to you, and then complaining about the smell.

You book into an Ibis and you expect something other than overpriced tulipe?

Find a small family run hotel, or try beManos; about the same price as Ibis but much better.

It was 10pm yesterday and it was rather dark in an unknown place - rather interesting that there are plenty of zebra crossings but no lights for pedestrians, zebra crossing over tram line is something special for sure

I've never had that problem at the Royal Windsor or the sofitel Le Louise. Just call room service and get a fabulous 7 course meal served on your own private balcony with your loved one (or your hired one in some cases).

But if you must stay at the Ibis, you're unlikely to get anything to eat anywhere in Europe at 10pm on a monday.

Check out the hotel sites on t’internet, book into ibis because it’s more expensive than the nice little places and cheaper and crappier than the smart places; really good value for money, to be sure! Get a train leaving at a convenient time and arriving at an inconvenient time because it saves money. Discover everything’s closed on a Monday evening. Complain and rant on CUK, and try convincing the world that the food's crap in Brussels.

FFS AtW, the EU HQ is in Brussels because the food is so bloody good. You don't think that overpaid civil servants, bankers and international tax lawyers are going to set up shop above a kebab vendor in bloody Swindon do you?
