    Much quickness, plenty cheapness.
This may tarnish Indias reputation for cutting edge engineering and build quality, but time is a great healer.
Just take China for example; not so long ago we were convinced that anything stamped with "made in China" would fall apart within minutes of using it - a symbol of poor standards, and cheap mass produced tat - but just look at them now...

Well I for one wish them every success. There won't be a single member of the team that is organising these games that won't be disappointed by this collective failure. JUST REMEMBER THE DISAPPOINTMENT THAT YOU'VE ALL FELT WHEN INVOLVED IN A FAILED IT PROJECT and perhaps you won't view the situation with such schadenfreude.

This is slightly different, I'd say.

A lot of Western companies invested time by working closely with Chinese manufacturers to ensure quality standards were high and maintained that way.

TBH, that's what the organisers should have done here - kept a closer eye on progress and not turn up 2 weeks before the start.

              New PM one-liner...

"1 million Bobs and 2 weeks does not a commonwealth games stadium build."

It used to be "9 women and 1 month does not a baby make."

More on this from Sky News.

They managed to introduce the 'child labour' angle into as well which is a nice touch.

Looking through the montage of photos at the bottom I assume those are ISO standard company supplied safety flip flops and saris the construction workers are wearing.

You are quite correct. Oldsters among us will (or at least may...) be able to remember when that was true of "Made In Japan" too.

I suppose the point is that for India, these Games say "not yet", which is the opposite of what they were supposed to say to the world.

Maybe we're only looking at this from one perspective.

I bet the accountants will be celebrating the fact that it's no doubt been delivered for half the cost it previously took to deliver Manchester and Melbourne. Bonuses all round please.

At least the rest of the world can now see the incompetence we have to put up with when dealing with Bob in the IT industry.
