Incidentally, just out of interest, how does one pronounce Hever? i.e. which of the 2 following phonetics pertain to the correct pronunciation of said castle?

    a) Heever
    b) Hevver

I only ask since mispronunciation can lead to a loss of face in the circles in which I move!

That's funny because Leeds Castle is actually in Kent. It's a bit like the Duke of Devonshire lives in Derbyshire and Lulworth Castle is in Devon. Myself and the chaps from my barber shop quartet often spend hours chewing the fat over ambiguous place names whilst whiling away those long evenings out on the road!

Ok, I'm prepared to concede that Lulworth castle is in Dorset but I am right in the overall principle of what I was saying. I was actually alluding to another castle that is located in Devon but the nature of its nomenclature would suggest that it is located elsewhere in the British Isles.
