Dungeness Bird Observatory
Strong southerly winds resulted in another day dominated by seabirds with nearly seven hours watching producing a Red-necked Grebe, 25 Sooty Shearwaters, two Leach’s Petrels, 1350 Gannets, two Velvet Scoters, 25 Red-breasted Mergansers, three Pomarine Skuas, one Arctic Skua, eight Great Skuas, 29 Little Gulls, four Mediterranean Gulls, 325 Kittiwakes, three Arctic Terns and 250 auks (all west).
It was quiet on the land although two Merlins, 11 Swallows, a Wheatear and a Bullfinch were of interest.
