Connecting with the land through pottery

In the hills surrounding the famed hot springs of Ojo Caliente in New Mexico, the rich, micaceous clay that has been a part of Native American culture for centuries is the focal point of a soul-centering workshop. With six scheduled for 2005, the five-day retreats are devoted to creating pottery by traditional methods in classes taught by noted potter Felipe Ortega. But all is not work. Each day also holds the promise of hours spent soaking under the big sky and savoring specially selected spa treatments like the Earth Keeper’s Hot Stone Massage (to better connect with the land) and an Herbal Wrap (to balance an intense day of building pottery). Just one of the spa’s Traditional Ojo Experience choices, the Micaceous Clay Workshop sends guests home with the fruits of their labor, with Nature’s blessing.

I remember sitting in the natural hot springs on Sulfur (sic) Mountain near Banff. Quite a strange experience given that it was snowing. Very nice and relaxing but ponged a bit.
