I hope there isnt a spate of copy-cat incidents


anyways , this reignited a ten year debate that I have had with the missus. She is a cat lover and was appalled to see me pick one mog up by the scruff of its neck. She was totally opposed.

When I googled it, I found that opinion was divided 50/50, many vets and animal lovers say its ok, many are opposed.

Cats are "programmed" to go limp when you do this. It's a way that a mother cat will transport her offspring.

I would pick a cat up just by the scruff of its neck and I've never seen a vet do it either - you should support the back end. Cats tend to carry their kittens by grabbing the whole neck (not just the skin) in my expereince.

We pick our rabbit up the same way and he always seems to like it.

Though bear in mind, ours is a cute little bunny rabbit, not a grave robbing were rabbit.

We pick up our grave-robbing were-rabbit by holding out the thigh bone of an Ox until he clamps his teeth round it, then lofting him up with an adult at either end.

At the end of the day it's a cat. It's not as if it's a decent pet like a goldfish or a dog.

Dunno what all the fuss is about. Top Cat lived in a fooking bin for years!!
