I hated being forced to drink half a pint of milk every day. Thatcher did us all a favour.

I take the point about only providing milk for the greatest need but life just is not that simple sometimes. Some schools will have a 90% take up, try explaining that to the little 5 year old that she can't have any milk.
Then some schools will have a 10% take up and these children will be classed as the poor. Then there is the quango set up to administer the system.
Sometimes it's best to just let a little socialism out and just let those who want it have some milk.Comment

The problem is that milk can give you a good chunk of your daily fat requirement (unless you drink semi-skimmed), so if you're eating any other fatty foods, you're gonna put on weight.Comment

I wonder if you can get a glass of milk in prison?
Menelaus?Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

The irony with the whole Thatcher / milk snatcher business is that Churchill said, “There is no finer investment for any community than putting milk into babies.”
The modern Tory makes him look like a 'big state' social democrat.Comment
