There was a dickhead socialist contractor at a mobile telco I had a gig at back in the early days of IR35. He was always going on about the international workers' movement, social justice, high earners should pay more taxes, etc. The fcuker got hit with a PAYE review (and ultimately got stung for IR35) and it turned out he was paying himself minimum wage, dividends to his missus, had an off-shore account, the works. So much for his social conscience.

I could continue to argue with you, but can't really see the point. Arguing with an idiot can only bring you down to their level.

You and Chico - you weren't separated at birth were you?

The sheer arrogance of this statement is astounding - most reasonable people would say they were wrong. You, on the other hand, give "benefit of the doubt".

As you started the insults, about the only statement so far I agree with.
End of.

Originally posted by FranckoOnce I had a temporary contract in Italy where on the phone we agreed at amount X - 20% preliminary taxes (that's when you don't have the equivalent of ltd and it's an occasional job). It turned out they paid me the full amount (plus an extra 20% for taxes). I told the agency that they made a mistake and they said they didn't. I went to check the contract and they made the same mistake on the contract so I was legally allowed to keep that 20%. But then the agency manager realised the mistake and asked for the money back. Honesty is a bad habbit those days as I felt like I had to return the money. I did that, and the bank teller made a mistake as I made other two transfers on the same day and he got confused with the amounts so I gave them twice the amount I should have given.
It would have been ironical if they now kept the difference but instead they didn't. So tell me again, how much honesty does pay those days?
LIke the time I was working in Rome, managed to lose my wallet containing my passport, credit cards 300 Euros and 200 puonds in sterling in cash, Building Pass, the works.
That night I had a cold sweat, no money , no Id, zilch and the first rent was due the next day.
Next day I got a call, somebody had found my wallet and handed it to the Termini railway station, went to collect it , everything was there, and wanted to leave a reward for the honest person who saved me from despair.
The lost property lady told me it was a young girl who handed it in but she did not want to leave her name.
It must have been Angel, the lost property lady said.
I didnt argue with that.Last edited by AlfredJPruffock; 25 January 2006, 10:43.Comment
