I recommend Juan Les Pins rather than Nice. There are several hotels there - I used to stay at Les Ambasseudeurs all the time but I believe it's not as good as it once was.

Make sure you visit the Pam-Pam bar in Juan. Go before 21:00 and get free canapes!

I think my folks stayed at the Hotel Splendid. Said it was ok. Not much of a recommendation I know.

FWIW, I remember Nice being a bit of a crap hole. Better off along the coast a bit.

Both Nice and Cannes have a road between the hotels and the beach so I don't fancy your chances with the infinity pool, but you should be able to find somewhere with it's own stretch of beach, which is worth looking out for as the public beaches are mostly pebbles. The hotels ship sand in but charge non-residents €10-15 a day or more for use of the beach.

If you have the time somewhere I can recommend visiting around there is the Gorge de Verdon, which is truly spectacular and also has a large lake you can swim in and go boating on. You may recognise it from the episode of Top Gear where some climbers race an Audi up a cliff face. It is quite a drive though, so probably not something to try and fit in if you only have a weekend.

I can also recommend this place for a meal. index

If they let YOU stay there sas, they don't have any qualms over the gene pool either!!

They recognise class when they see it.

Port Grimaud is an interesting place. It's designed so most (all?) houses have a berth for a yacht. Has a kind of Venice-like feel.

Infinity pools might be a bit hard to find in the large cities, you'll have more luck in the smaller villages on the coast.

The Eden Roc on the Cap d'Antibes should have one, and I think there is a hotel in the village of Eze that has one too.

I find the ETAP Hotel near to Nice airport OK myself.

It looks terribly gauche. One might even say, ghastly.
