We have great individual defenders but they just don't seem to gel.Originally posted by sasguru View PostSee GingerJedi's post above - they don'st seem to lack firepower and we're not that good at the back.
From what I've seen we're going to have to play an attacking game, Rooney paired with Crouch and Gerrard just behind in a central role should be tasty.Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave JohnsonComment

The only way England can do well in this tournament is by outscoring the other team. We're leaky at the back and lack a solid goalie. If we sit back at any time we're fooked.Originally posted by gingerjedi View PostWe have great individual defenders but they just don't seem to gel.

On the other hand, if we play at a high tempo, most teams would not like to play us - up front we're not too bad and can score goals.
All I want is that we don't tamely quit as we did against Brazil in 2002. Lets go down fighting if we have to and entertain the world.Hard Brexit now!

Outside possibility of a loss.
One thing it won't be is your scenario of a thrashing by England.Hard Brexit now!

Right, who is up for a first round games prediction competition?
I propose that I kick of a thread with the the list of games, so far I have them all in a list in this format...
Edit: I will change the list so that it does not word wrap.
If you want to enter then you can quote the post and add in your scores...Code:1 Fri Jun 11, 2010 15:00 South Africa Mexico 2 Fri Jun 11, 2010 19:30 Uruguay France
The scoring will be 3 points for the correct result, 3 points for the correct home score and 3 points for the correct away score.Code:1 Fri Jun 11, 2010 15:00 South Africa Mexico 2:0 2 Fri Jun 11, 2010 19:30 Uruguay France 0:2
People can score themselves and I will try to keep a leader board on the first post of the thread.
Any editing of the entry post will mean an automatic booting out of the comp.
Winner gets to play a game of doctors and nurses with their choice of one of the female posters on the site.
If that all sounds good and the terms are agreeable to everyone I can kick off the thread later after my 2 pints and steak sarnieComment
