    It's all about the touchscreen!!!

Can't see a need for one myself, but doesn't mean I wouldn't want one (I might even buy one if they were under £300).

Waiting for the next iteration of the iphone though - that is going to kick ass!

      7 whole seconds?... lame

My pro is running out of sleep before I can get the screen upright...

iPad holds no appeal to me.

I've got a desktop replacement type laptop for games/serious work and a netbook for lightweight portability, surfing and trivial faffing about plus a standard work laptop. I can even use my Android phone for reading docs, mp3's and surfing on the train which is a damn sight handier than an iPad.

The iPad has no functionality I need or want.

Apple fans queue for iPad's UK launch | Mobile Devices | ZDNet UK

The Regent Street store saw Stephen Fry turn up to pick up and iPad and mingle with fellow Apple fans. The queue also contained Joseph Grech, who set a record by typing the alphabet on the tablet in 6.61 seconds, according to the Guinness World Records organisation. Also in line were world's tallest married couple, Keisha and Wilco van Kleef-Bolton.

I have a few HP Touchsmarts around the house for PC's & use as a TV. I quite like the touchscreens.

The only problem is, my 3 year old will go to someones house and start pressing the TV screen when she sees a DVD or program come up. I have to explain that other people are poor and so therefore cannot afford biscuits or technology. She feels sorry for permies already.

Aaargh, i'm tempted. After seeing the price i thought no way, not paying that sort of money for what would be effectively a toy. Found myself browsing YouTube today looking at reviews and also been to the apple site a couple of times wondering whether to go for it. I know from experience though that once i start doing that, its only a matter of time before one drops through the door.

I'm a big reader so the Kindle, iBooks and all the newspaper apps make it pretty tempting to me. Would also make a lovely sofa surfing gadget. Normally use my iPhone or laptop for that but the iPad just looks far better for that sort of thing.

              £420 quid though, dunno.

I refuse to buy one until Steve Jobs stops being a tard and allows Flash. Then I can watch pr0n on it and everyone will be happy.

It'll never happen. Flash is hungry for cycles and drains the power,

I'd consider one when it can run more than one thing at a time.
Plus lack of flash is pretty poor for a device that's aimed at the web browsing market.

Thing is, I reckon Jobs could stick and Apple logo on a turd and it would still sell.

Had a chance to play with one this morning. Actually thought it was quite clunky and the keyboard isn't great.

It doesnt really hold in the hand very well and I'd be worried it would be dropped and broken. Definitely would not hand it to the kids like you can with the phone.

The flash thing is still an issue.

All in all it is well over priced for what it is and you will look like a bit of a dick using it anywhere else but home.
