Perhaps the ability to read might be of use here. What I said was

"Next week I'm about to start my new role in London. I'll be staying a bit out of London and travelling in each day from West Ruislip. I'm buying a cheap banger that I'll use to commute from my mates house to the tube station each day. This thing is only going to be 400 so and I have had a quote to insure it for about 260. But I was wondering if it was possible to have it added to my existing policy and what effect it would have. i.e would it be possible and more cost effective? "

The car is 400 and the lowest quote I had was 260. I did not scroll down to see how far it went. I did the search on goCompare especially for you to show that there was a range of quotes and it wasn't just a couple of quid. Also, the lowest quote I got was from Swinton who, correct me if I am wrong, is not some little tin pot insurance compnay.

Oh and one final couple of points

        From my first post

"But I was wondering if it was possible to have it added to my existing policy and what effect it would have. i.e would it be possible and more cost effective? "

As you can see I was asking if it would be more cost effective to have this car added to my existing policy or take out a seperate one. Some insurance companies offer a second car discount.

        And form your post

"who gets insurance only for legal reasons "cuz you have to have one", expecting "not to claim" in Tony's words"

I think you will find that is why a great many people buy insurance! As for the not to claim comment. My point was

        if the car got stolen
if the car got broken into
        if it got damaged
I would not claim due to the effect it would have on my insurance profile.

No it wasn't - that's you trying to get out of this with some semblance of credibility. You fully believed what you were saying
