SY02 lost her car keys.

We only have one key (it is a bleeper one that does the immobiliser) and they are pretty dear to replace.

So I am now looking at the prospect of replacing all the locks and ignition barrel.

I believe you can buy a second hand key from somewhere like eBay and have it re-programmed and cut by your local dealer to work with your car.

My wife helped our mate lose the keys to his imported FTO a few years ago. He had been meaning to get a spare cut for months.
So after we broke into it in the pissing down rain and found the alarm and ripped it out sent it back to the manufacturer... then took the locks out to find one that had the serial number on it...

I walked into Mitsubishi and said "hey can I have a key numbered 102 blah blah" The guy said sure thats £12 and just picked one up from out the back so i bought him two. 5 minutes...

Shame the car was off the road for 3 months waiting for the alarm to come back...

VW want your V5 and some id then they will order you some new keys (they are only £150 each get more than one)

Having to admit that you lost all your keys invalidates your insurance and costs you the keys the alarm system and the door locks
