    1. Push for an EU immigration policy that allows limits to be set on migration levels to countries within the EU.

    failing that:
    2. leave the EU.

    but...
    3. A bit late now.

Once living standards in the UK have fallen to comparable levels in the third world this problem will solve itself. You just have to give it time.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Hmm, would that stop the illegal immigrants? No, because by definition they aren't following the law. Would it stop human smuggling? No, just like banning cocaine and heroine hasn't stopped drugs smugglers.

All EU countries already have tough immigration policies for those coming from outside the EU. None of those policies have worked, and in fact arguably they've worked the wrong way around by 'locking in' those who are already in the EU.

          Gordon

However, evidence suggests that´s wrong. The countries struggling with the highest levels of immigration in the world are generally turd world tulipholes like DR Congo with millions of refugees fleeing wars.

It's only a mater of time.

Most youngsters can't afford to buy a house until they are in their late thirties or forties in the UK now. Are we nearly there yet?

You never mentioned illegal immigrants in the original spec.
