Can't you and Churchill just take the boat from Harwich?

Surely it won't be that crowded going _to_ Amsterdam will it?

Been looking at http://www.flightradar24.com/ - some flights in europe. but nothing from UK airports. Why can they fly over the UK but airlines here can't even take off?

What does an aeroplane do when it takes off?

If they can take off in clear air and climb to a height that takes them above the cloud without going through it, then they are ok.

How high up does a normal plane go?

A 747 will cruise at anywhere between 35,000 and 40,000 feet. The cloud currently tops out between 18,000 and 20,000 feet.

It normally depends on how far it's going and its type.

The one you're going on will probably climb to 34000 feet plus.
