You analysis is spot on, you make a quid every few minutes on average.

Over an hour you can make £50 quid.
All it takes is hitting the zero at the end of a bad streak and you'll be asking for more pretend money!

This is known as the Martingale system.

Incidentally, there is no point switching colours after a loss as this article explains.

It's called a martingale strategy. You will occasionally loose heavily due to hitting the table limit or running out of money with which to bet.

Edit: You beat me to it!
While you're waiting, read the free novel we sent you. It's a Spanish story about a guy named 'Manual.'

If you lose you double your stake on the same colour until you win, and then you switch colour again going back to £1 bet.

          Eg.

You bet £1 on red, you win, you bet £1 on black. You lose that so you bet £2 on black. You lose again so you bet £4 on black. You win and so you switch to red and bet £1. You lose, so bet £2 on red, you win and switch back to black, going back to £1 bet.

Try it online (e.g. Ladbrokes casino).
Its an old (very old) casino myth. You soon will run out of money or reach the house maximum stake. And there is the factor of when zero comes up. (you get half your stake back)

You will be better off betting on two columns or two dozens at a time. That way you cover almost two thirds of the table.

My roulette system is get as much booze in you as you can then head to the casino with 50 quid and a decent cigar and expect to lose the lot. Have a bit of fun losing it.

I used to make resonable return from football betting but that would take about 8 hours a week studying the week's games and form. When you start earning contractor wages there is no desire to go out and bet.

I used to make a bit of money on golf betting, studying form and all that stuff.

Then 9/11 happened and many players stopped travelling or travelled infrequently for ages. That buggered up all my calculations. I never restarted.

I slotted my calcs into a program and they spit out probable results. Program wakes up every hour, pulls in the games coming up from the web and pushed them through a rules engine. About 100,000 euro games in one of my databases.

Neat. I only had Excel spreadsheets, but this was nearly 10 years ago.

I once wrote a program for football, but that was 25 years ago on a BBC micro, using BBC basic. That did require some memory management!

The forecasts weren't bad but not good enough to make money on. And in those days there weren't so many betting options. What's worse I had to input all the results manually every week (no interweb) and after a year or so I got fed up with it.

The system needs refining but it kind of works, it has Ajax, Young Boys, Chelsea, Kettering & Wimbledon as this week picks which will hardly shock a decent gambler.

Now my next system is a killer, if I just never had a job and a 4 hour daily commute I think I could wrap it up in about 100 hours of programming.
