An image search for "god save the queen" says more about him than it does Betty Windsor!
I thought The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle was a great film; it sums up punk, it is punk - and if you think you've "got it", then you still haven't got the joke.
British Punk stuck an overcharged spiky dildo up the arse of the moribund British music scene and got that corpse twitching back to life. Malcolm Maclaren was the one that knew when and where to shove that dildo, and had the foresight to coat it in chilli sauce.
Malcom, you bastard! F*** off, seriously, you old cant!
I hope the fackin maggots choke on the sandbags in your coffin while you drink piña coladas with Princess Di on that secret Greek Island in the Med.

I never knew about him and Vivienne Westwood - I've long suspected she batted for a different team
He was part of my generation but he never did it for me. I prefered The Jam.Oh, I’m sorry….I seem to be lost. I was looking for the sane side of town. I’d ask you for directions, but I have a feeling you’ve never been there and I’d be wasting my time.Comment

British punk was a pretty pathetic ordeal really, the pistols were a formulated band and the clash aspired to be as big as the pistols. Too much cheap speed and gob and too little talent. McLaren was just a business man, feck knows why people would want to remember him as if he made some great contribution. Sorry he is dead but don't tell yourselves he was important.Comment

You killed Bambi!
Yes it could be painful, but having read the fawning press about the Pistols at the time you have to admire the mans piss taking abilities.+50 Xeno Geek Points

Don't spoil our nostalgia trip for the era. It was the same with Joe Strummer.
BTW Strummer got an pedestrian underpass named after him, maybe McClaren will get a pelican crossing.Comment

minestrone is just being his usual, miserable self. He can't bear to see anyone else happy. Ignore him and he'll go away. He's probably not old enough to remember punk anyway! If you read the best 3 books in any subject, you'll be in the top 5% of experts in the world.Comment

I'm not being miserable, punk was just a very poor time for british music, people banging out 3 chords were somehow thought of as credible, and the clash were feckin the worst of the lot. I know football songs with more to offer than half their pish.Comment

Some myths
1/ Punk started in 1977 in the UK
2/ Everyone in the 80s Manchester music scene was at the Sex Pistols Free Trade Hall gig
Any road...Malcolm McLaren was a twat but I liked the Sex Pistols...IMHOThe court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.
But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”Comment
