I see a number of posts saying that they are waiting for rates to improve...

For someone in London working in front office finance what would people be happy with exactly?

550? Or a lot more?

Then they are stupid if they are doing that. 90% of something is better than 100% of nothing. Besides, once you've lost 2 or 3 months at even a couple of hundred quid a day, you'll never make that up.

You hold out for the rate that you/the agent/client is happy with.

Be careful not to leave yourself on the bench for the sake of a few grand a year, that is just STUPID.

I was on £420 a day here in frozen North which seems fukin A1 now - got a call for a gig in Edinburgh today, was an old-style agency call, I wasn't a 100% match but they tried to shoehorn me in, ultimately I rejected it, 270 a day....

My first ever contract, back in 1986 I think it was, was for GBP5.50 an hour. No interview, just turn up at midnight tomorrow, introduce yourself to the security guard and off you go.
