What is Budapest like to work in?

You used to have to watch the bars you went in, and what taxi you got in as they would rip you off at the earliest opportunity.

Nah , still a bit bad now, but good taxi companies exist so just phone for them or if you know the price from having done the journey before then agree it before hand.

Hmmmm bars...well of course seedy places might try it on but have your wits about you and it's fine...oh I forgot who we're talking about

Was very cheap by UK prices back in the 90's but now in the centre as expensive as any EU city.

However, once you go out of the centre, prices start to come down. Districts have various demographics, the Budapesti metró is relatively clean and reliable and you can use your mobiles on there.

Nice food, nice nightlife, might help to learn a little Hungarian but is as hard as Mandarin.

Outside of Buda, some very nice rural places and very cheap. Seek out the great wines, great palinka and some very nice people (ex wife excluded).

No idea about work, but Hungarian economy and currency has tanked. Also the Hungarian PM, Ferenc Gyurcsany, is a great friend of Tony Bliars. You have been warned.
