    Miserable coward that he is (despite writing a book about courage!), Brown thinks of an election like we would think of an execution. So it's quite possible it will be on the latest possible date.

    Also, if anyone thinks of voting Labour because that experienced and nice Mr Darling will go on being Chancellor, think again. If Labour win, Brown would almost certainly appoint Ed Balls as Chancellor.

      Probably the last thing he does before he himself gets deposed. Whatever the outcome of the election (I expect Labour to remain in power), Brown will be gone. Before the end of the year he will be spending time receiving medical treatment of one kind or another and as an inpatient.
      How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
