    Car Auctions

Went along to a January sale the other day, bloody hell cars have hit rock bottom!

    BMW 525 03 plate , 9k!

    Mazda RX8 230bhp 04 plate 14k (never seen a private one under 16k)

Renault Laguna 1.8 (new shape) 52 reg £2,500!

Also lots of cheap really high mileage cars being bought up by dealers. Now I've never seen really high mileage cars on forecourts, must be a lot of clocked motors out there!
The court heard Darren Upton had written a letter to Judge Sally Cahill QC saying he wasn’t “a typical inmate of prison”.

But the judge said: “That simply demonstrates your arrogance continues. You are typical. Inmates of prison are people who are dishonest. You are a thoroughly dishonestly man motivated by your own selfish greed.”

What auction was that place / location. I read in Autocar a while ago that 03 plate Lotus Elises are going through auction at around the £12.5k to £13k mark, lots of them at auction as they were company car tax friendly. Usually they go for around £16k plus a dealer. I want get one but

This was BCA in manchester on a Tuesday (so mainly trade buyers) I've been to Enfiled on a saturday a few years ago and it was full of mug punters. The auctions in the North and Scotland are def where the best deals are.

Have you considered a VX220? the vauxhall engine is much better than the K series rover one in the lower powered lotus. Both cars are hard to find in good nick, they are prone to massive stonechipping and body damage. I'd be more tempted to get a mothballed private one.

Can you remember if the 525 was an auto? The manuals always sell for silly money.

I know what you mean about the VX220 head says thats the one to go for, but heart likes the look of the Lotus. Private prices on the Elises arent that bad £13-£15k for new shape one, so may go down that route. Ive been waiting till after xmas to buy as people will need the money.

i was looking at those cars a year or so ago. I too prefer the shape of the Lotus, however in most driving conditions the VX220 is a faster car and much better value second hand. The turbo is a absolute loon! Now is the time to buy, infact ASAP as they start to rise slightly as spring approaches.
Also bear in mind they aren't an everyday driver car.

is a good source for decent cars.

Re BMW, it was one of the last older shape cars I think, still, bloody good VFM

They're supposed to be pretty cramped for anyone who's 6 foot or over. Also, I'm sure they're fun cars to drive but when the novelty factor wears off, the overly firm ride and forever screaming 4-pot engine maybe a bit too luch live with IMO.

I had a (Ford) Racing Puma before http://www2.uol.com.br/bestcars/carr...g_Puma_800.jpg

That was very firm and noisey, I had it for 5 years and then swapped in for my current Audi S3 which I had 10 months now. But Im sooo bored with the Audi its like driving an arm-chair, I want it raw again

Yeh it depends on what your driving at present. I'm trying to go in the opposite direction myself. I've been driving a Prelude for the last couple of years and over time the 'roar' from the VTEC engine has become an annoying whine and the once 'rewarding' gearbox is just plain tiresome now. I've been saving my pennies over the last couple of years, all but paid off my mortgage so I'm looking for a big torquey German autobahn cruiser now.
