When I was asking contracting questions on here late last year I was getting all this s**t about how contracting is not just about the money and how you only get 1 or 2k more at the end of the year. It's all about the lifestyle and being free blah blah what a load of bullS***. I have been contracting for nearly 2 months and its all about the money, nothing else. The money motivates you to work which means you out perform the guys working perm (God help them) and hence you keep getting paid more.makes sense tbh
There is no such thing as a career in IT. Money is King.
Wow, got me there, I actually started talking sensibly to you
won't happen again
The more a gig pays the better your career prospects (i.e. the earlier you can retire). Use your money to buy stocks, invest in property or other businesses and by the time your 40 hope you have enough to retire.Comment

Well, it is mostly about the money but not having to endure the appraisal/annual review jibber jabber is certainly a perk of contracting, and not having a limit of n days holiday per year is a bonus as well, although in the current climate I'm working every billable day to boost my income which is something else I might not have the option to do as a permie.Originally posted by NorthWestPerm2Contr View PostWhen I was asking contracting questions on here late last year I was getting all this s**t about how contracting is not just about the money and how you only get 1 or 2k more at the end of the year. The builders working on the school next door are at it already. The noise is doing my fracking head in.
Today I shall mainly be listening to a MathWorks webinar called: MATLAB for Computational Finance.
I'm rather looking forward to it - should I be worried?
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
