I think what would make it easier was if the Moderators could colour those posters who are considered untouchable. Maybe a little Bullet Proof Tony logo on their avatars would make this easier.

This way, mere mortal posters can know who they're going up against and can make the decision to back off or go out in a blaze of glory all insults flying.

Sorry all, only got time for a quick word this morning. A lot of this lies with me and not the new mods. FaQQer, I think part of your annoyance at present comes from reported posts not being given an answer. When I added the new mods I managed to knock myself out of these alerts and these are something I would have dealt with had I seen them.

The problem does lie with the terms and conditions stating no swearing, me being lax in allowing some through and some not.

I have been hit with work problems this morning and not been able to give the time that this issue deserves.

What I want to say to you all is that we need to stop the bickering and intentional wind-ups swiftly. I have suggested to the mods that they PM people before giving an official infraction and I hope that these civilised warnings will be enough to calm the situation before banning.

I have not pushed for warnings on swearing as I wanted to get the forum version up, have a relaxed set of rules for General / Light Relief but crack down on swearing and let you all have fun on here.

I have to shoot again now as have some things I badly need to be doing but will be back shortly.

I come back from hols and it seems the board has had a prefrontal lobotomy. Old, not so old and new posters all weighing in about absolutely bugger all. What is this, a playground? I'm a bit disappointed in some of those who should know better tbh.

To the OP: No-one is untouchable apart from admin. Not even mods.

Perceived 'continuity' will be different until new mods settle in, as there are several of them, and they are new. This is perfectly normal. Deal with it.

Some of you are just being silly, some are IMHO stirring. Get some perspective. I've always thought of this board as an invaluable resource for those in need of info, camaraderie and a bit of a reality check about life & contracting. The variety, tangents and humour (as well as the banter) keep it what it is - along with your quality contributions.

The occasional spat aside, the nature & spirit of the conversations has generally been positive. Credibility has been gained not from the post counts but the merit of contributions, and if we feel some posters are jeopardising this for petty malice then the PM/Infraction route admin has advised will be taken - regardless of who you are.

I'd hate it if the actions of a few muppets (sorry Gonzo) made the quality posters feel alienated. This board is what we make it. Contribute quality.
