By that I assume you are referring to me again. Frankly I think it's completely unfounded. One spat with one poster who decides to leave is unfortunate but was not intentional. Then the whole rubbish with suityou gives the impression of hounding when in fact it's the other way.Originally posted by norrahe View PostI'm just trying to make a point that a few people are making life miserable for all by the fact they have no manners whatsoever, are ignoring any semblence of etiquette, are generally being abusive and hounding people off the site.
The new changes will be welcome and the mods have had a lot on their hands in light of recent events. I do not envy them one bit.
Its just the fact that some people seem to thing it is perfectly all right to behave in such a manner online, if they were to do the same in a face to face situation there surely would be more than just
A very sad precedent had been set on cuk. Those who have met and socialised have formed a clique albeit inintentionally. By meeting the person behind the facade you automatically treat them with more respect online. This in turn means that on an online forum any poster who is outside the clique and posts or gets in a flame(regardless of whether they start it) finds themselves harrangued by multiple posters who feel it acceptable to use unsubtle offensive profanity at the poster. In turn this makes it acceptable for the clique to justify their actions and substantiate their claims against the poster.
As more people meet, those who do not will start to drop off. Eventually though two members of the clique will step over the bounds from virtual into real life. At the point the next social becomes an article in the daily mail.
I believe wholeheartedly you should not cross over into real life. You should never start to post on peoples family or real circumstances that you may know about irl. If this happens the poster should be automatically banned.
This was about to happen last night and I backed off. It's happened before and to the clique is acceptable if they have only met one person behind the facade.
It is never acceptable. Never! What happens in General, stays in General. You know what they say about assumptions!Comment

One of your first posts when you came back to this forum was to have a go at my ex-wife, do you remember that? Yes, just what is this "clique" of which you speak MF? I have never met anyone on here, do not regard myself as being in any clique, and would not want to be. And I feel that in all my time here I have had fair treatment by any and all mods.
Too many drama queens coming out of the woodwork at the moment with their precious sensibilities. Nobody is forcing anyone to post here, and for the most part nobody should get too concerned if some decide to take a break. Some people need to get over themselves.“The period of the disintegration of the European Union has begun. And the first vessel to have departed is Britain”Comment

I'm with the wimmin (CM, Nor, Mary) on this one but I've also been worn down by certain posters incessant economic, Daily Mail, global warming etc threads.
In no way am I trying to shape the debate on the forum but what really disappoints (read: bugs) me is the complete dis-regard by these individuals for the board community and the inflated (deluded?) position they think they hold.
I couldn't give a flying 'f' about how much you sold your house for in the West Country or the fact you've now stuck your schillings in pork bellies.
If your doing well, then great, good for you but please don't post about it every day as it speaks volumes about the person you are not rather than the person you think you are.
Also, when certain posters don't get the attention they desperately crave, they wheel out sockpuppet no. 47 for a larf. Yes, it can be funny, but after the nth time it's beyond annoying.
Finally, the recent turmoil and the existing users reaction to it is almost the final nail in the coffin for me.
It would be very easy to blame MF for this and I haven't analysed the situation in any great depth but I get a sense that I can see what he is trying to do (this suggests he has some grand plan, but I'm not so sure
) and I do agree with him somewhat. There is a strong clique on this board and unless you are a part of that your voice/opinion is either surpressed or outright churlishly dis-missed.
I've been guilty of some of this in the past where I have, in my view, highlighted the blatant troll posts, mainly in the Business section, to try and nip them in the bud. However, after a recent chiding for doing so I purposely (heavily) bit my tongue and took a step back and have decided to re-evaluate my approach to such posts. They could well be posts by newbies and I need to allow for that and walk on by and not get wound up by them which is something I will be doing going forward.
I'm at a point now where I'm ambivalent towards this community and am happy to use it as a resource when it suits me and not put anything back - others have been doing this for ages so why not join them?
However, for now, I'm going to keep a lower profile and try and ride it out until the changes come in and hope the good times will roll again.Comment
