Worst rate ever, away from home, but still over the moon to have got a gig? I was getting a tad worried, around 40-50 applications, 1 interview, 3 and a half months benched with a pile of debt mounting up.
Even started applying for permie <hack, spit> roles, was getting that desperate.
I used to think: not until you see the blood on the contract.
Then it became: not until you are seated at desk at the clientco.
Now it's: not until the first invoice has been paid and cleared.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.
