Here's a couple of links to interesting Gates projects to peruse if you've a spare day or so:
Go Gates go.
- Gates has made available, free to Microsoft users, lectures given by Feynman (filmed by the BBC in the 1960s) "The Character of Physical Law". The lectures are at a fairly basic level and are entertaining if only to see one of the greatest physicists of all time captured on film.

- Gates is also involved in the development in a type of nuclear breeder proposed in the 1950s. His "Travelling Wave reactor" is probably a bit more hyped than deserved, being one of several breeder designs in development today, but it is interesting anyway.
