First hit = Two weeks (1/2 way through)
Home for 3-4 days
Back for approx 2 weeks
Home for 3-4 days

Not sure after that.....
Gets near the visa limit
So see out visa
then back home... possibly new visa (if end client "likes" the pilot)
Home for at least 1 week to renew visa
Back for rollout to initial teams & Handholding.....
Then Insh'allah....
End Client may want more resource for full blown rollout, etc etc
I might even want to provide it.... I am only signed up for 70-90 days "work" (over a longer elapsed)

So I think this is the worst bit ie 1st Weekend "on my own".... all the Ex-Pats had arranged stuff for this weekend which didn't include me (cos they didn't know I existed)

Put it all down to experience. It's tough at the moment, but you will learn a shed-load

You are right.... I weighed it up when the opportunity came up:
1) Decent rate (not earth shattering but decent)
2) Exes paid (which makes 1 even better)
3) Decent role.... ie its the sort of role that I do regularly when available (rather than a more mundane role that I sometimes have to do to pay the bills)
4) Its with a ClientCo that its good to get in with... ie They "Make" the Software that is being implemented at an End-Client and doing this for them "should" give me the opportunity for more work with them (in slightly less exotic places)
4) A real "learning opportunity" vis Culture etc

My thoughts were that by doing approx 2 week stints (give or take a few longer spells) if it was absolute tulip I could "suffer" for a couple of weeks at a time locked in a 5 star hotel......

I think its actually going well.... I have made the (pretty basic) effort to learn a few basic words of Arabic and use them when ever I can... and made obvious that I am trying to pick up more.... and it seems to be appreciated - I would hate to be one of those "Brits Abroad" that thinks the answer to language barriers is to speak louder!!
