I once came across someone having a fit in the office. Unfortunately this guy had climbed onto a table to have his fit and was trying (badly) to climb even higher. He looked scared stiff. I held out my hand to let him hold on to for stability, which he did with both hands as if for dear life. His legs were shaking and looked as if they were going to buckle, but he snapped out of it after a minute or two.Comment

There is a tribe in New Guinea called the Kajangers and they have a protocol where they hold a hand up and say 'I am not here', they then drop out of the conversation and to all intents and purposes they are absent.
