"Oh well, that will be that bloke over there but he hasnt answered my emails" and pointed to a bloke four cubes away who was eating a sandwich!!!!!!
"Well lets go and f---king talk to him then!!!" and I actually wheeled him across the room in his chair!!!!

I remember one of my first jobs on a helpdesk in Manchester.
I started doing the whole super pro-active calling/speaking to people thing. Kind of trying to hack the process really.
It generally worked well.
Do remember one phone call to some random person in London. Assigned a ticket to him and then phoned him up. He was about as rude and unhelpful as it was possible to be. I was just asking him to do his job!
I bet it was one of you lot.
Another time I did the same thing and the guy was helpful and sorted it out immediately but then wrote in the ticket that I had not followed the correct procedures by calling him.
Just don't understand that. If he was too busy then he could have just told me and that would be fine. As it was he was free and able to sort the issue immediately rather than everyone waiting hours/days. Win for everyone.Comment

ah yes you cannot circumvent the process no siree the process is what makes everything hang together
it why people study ITIL, ITSM etc - its so you can have a process to follow oh yes.
obviously the biggest problem is nobody thought to actually include in the process that the whole point of it was to fix the bloody problem and not just to create a nice paper trail so some pointless fu<kwith can imply they have some sort of control
Don;t get me started...
