The author, Vernon Coleman, is a doctor.

I think he once had a medical Q & A column in the Express, and he may even have been the original inspiration for Private Eye's spoof "A Doctor Writes" section.

edit: I checked that Wikipedia article, and it seems he didn't write for the Express:

He has worked as a tabloid newspaper columnist, producing a spoof "agony uncle" column in the Sunday People which became memorable for the vehemence of his opinions. I read it about a year ago.

Coleman's style is a bit too much of a rant for me. But even if he toned down his delivery, Brown still comes out of it as frighteningly incompetent. And we know that this stuff is true.
