I think someone on here got it spot on, that ADHD is another word for spoilt, overindulged, brats.
Parents want an excuse for why their child behaves the way it does, well they only have to blame themselves. They have allowed their child to behave like that.
Yes and no - A customer of mine has someone who is defo ADD working for him. This guy can't stay on task for more than a few minutes. But having said that, he's pretty clever and gets the job done in his own fashion.

I didn't believe that ADD really existed until I met this person.

I agree that it is a real condition, but is an excuse for parents who can't control their children and in today's nanny socity becoming all too prevalent.

Neither did I. My cards haven't seen the light of day in years.

And so on. < mode id="sensible">My point being that these tests, not only the popular ones but the professional ones too, are all worthless. Answers can be given that support a diagnosis of paranoia, etc that have rational reasons behind them. Not only are they worthless, they are dangerous as they can, and often are, abused.< /mode>
Yeah... I kind of agree. I did a psychology degree, done a fair bit of reading about personality disorders etc and it can be subjective. Questions to do with how much time you like to spend alone, or do you have anger etc... according to what? What's it being measured against?

And the same for some of the ones for mental illness. For anxiety/depression etc, the doctors will test you on a scale, and again, it depends what you're being tested against. Feeling down and hopeless once a day may not be that big a deal, it could just be for five minutes when you're under pressure.... that's why to diagnose it's not always simple.

I think some people obviously do have issues (erm, perhaps me thinking surely everyone has heard voices at least once in their life) but it's the overall context that should be looked at.

Hot on the heels of the Aspergers test?

              I scored 0.
don't even need to do the test.

I am clearly, to use a popular phrase, mad as a box of frogs, but I can honestly say in my 50+ years that I have never 'heard voices', or any of the other things they ask like having thoughts been put into my head or others can read my mind.

When I was at university, I briefly, dated a psychology student. I rapidly came to the conclusion that she was completely barking. So were all the others on her course. I believe that they only study the subject so they can try to understand what is wrong with themselves. The problem is that they then go on to have jobs in the area and they then project all their problems onto others.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

I agree. I have never heard voices. My mate Dave though who sits with me all day and night does tell me to kill prostitutes though! He says they're evil!
