    agency question

Anyone here used an agency called RDF?
    They are based in Brighton.

I'm wary of agencies going under, and I'm bothered by being monthly paid, with 30 days stated in the contract before they have to pay my invoice, so up to 2 months before any payment.

Anyone here currently working / recently worked through them, did you have any payment issues?

    Thanks in-advance
    Hugh J.

It sounds very familiar, but I can't check the former agencies I've used until I get home this evening.

TBH, these days I wouldn't take a contract with monthly payment terms. I know it's tempting to let it go, if offers are few and far between. But I'd still be firm about that, because an agency should have the cash flow for prompt payment and if they insist they don't then that in itself is a danger sign.

I worked via them for approx 6 months last year and they were good with payments. Saying that I don't remember being on 30 days payment terms but they are small in comparison with larger agencies so maybe they are looking to hang on to the cash now.

The guy I worked through actually took us all out for Christmas drinks which was a bonus.

I have had dealings with them - they are OK in the past but that is no guarantee for the future.

Insist they change terms, or you'll walk. Too risky in this climate.

I seem to remember them constantly ringing me up about roles that never went anywhere.

I tend not to bother applying if they advertise the role.

WHS. I remember now. I was with them in a six month contract in the first half of 2009.

Now I think of it, my contract had the same 30 day terms. In practice, they paid fairly promptly, usually within a couple of weeks each time. But if those are the terms then obviously in theory they can spin out the payments accordingly, which would leave you in the lurch if they did happen to fold.
