That's the thing with this piece of art though you don't have to believe to appreciate it. Not only is it sublime in it's execution, the limpness of christ carved out of rock is difficult to comprehend until you have seen it, but it transcends its religious meaning. It is a mother holding her dead child and indicative of a lived reality e.g. Rhys Jones recently in Liverpool.
But I discovered nothing else but depraved, excessive superstition. Pliny the younger

      The Millau Bridge? Linky

Personally I can get lost in anything by Dali or Mauritz Escher although it is questionable whether that is art

I think I'd have to go cliched for best art

      Beethoven's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik
      Da Vinci's Mona Lisa
Some Greek Bloke's Venus de Milo

I'll see if I can get them delivered by Friday

Are we likely to even have 4 of us agree on this?

You'll have trouble getting Amazon to deliver the first one. Maybe Bob could do it.

I know. It's giving me goose bumps and moist eyes right now. As you say, the limpness of a dead child in marble.

I saw Guernica at the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid. Very impressive. Go and see it.

Hmmm there's no denying it's technically brilliant but the subject mater is a bit dull don't you think? The VW Golf of the art world?

My vote goes to the Lamborghini Miura, engine bay open and Kylie leaning in.

Off for a lie down now.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson
