Old Eurolink trick, I am surprised they bothered to even negotiate. Usually they just do it anyway . Eurolink also used to hike the rate to the client by 10%Let us not forget EU open doors immigration benefits IT contractors more than anyone -
Interview!!
I spoke with an agent yesterdat for 400 / day , he called today says 300 for an interview. I took a 5 sec pause , not really thinking about it , but rather mentally calling him all words I know , and then said yes
Hey NewBlood -how did interview go?

I know , if he calls I will tell him 350 , and if he says but you said 300 , I will say take it or leave it.Originally posted by Moscow Mule View PostFrom your (admittedly brief) explanation, it sounds like you fell at the first hurdle. Agent was trying to batter you down a bit (maybe by £25 a day?) you swallowed the lot.
If you're happy then all well and good, but I reckon you'd have got £350 out of him.
I am a bit gutted about this particular case.
I did say yes outright to a 100 cut because at the moment contracting is something of a plan B for me . I act on the premise that "there are no contracts or almost impossible to secure" for myself and I am turning to the web and will get myself out of this tulip.Last edited by newblood; 10 February 2010, 15:35.Comment

You are right , but it is worth it considering all the english gals that have had the pleasure of looking at ( not touching ) my sexy exercised body.Originally posted by EternalOptimist View PostThis just shows why we dont need immigrants. If you had been English it would have occurred to you that you could have sworn at him in Russian. So you could have acheived your TWO main objectives
1. securing a £100 cut for the agents pocket
2 whilst still managing to get a good swear in

Then that's the market rate. The market rate is what you can get - not what you used to get.Originally posted by newblood View PostMate the market for my skill for a UK contractor is 450 - 500 ( high level Sharepoint admin ).
For myself 425 is a score , 350 is awesome , 300 is a great job. I have been considering 250 from 3 months back , and this now keeps going down.Comment

Whatever the so called moral arguments, in practice you won't find a country in the world where ethnic diversity actually works.bloggoth

I hate to say it , but I think xoggoth is right. Differnet people find it hard to mix because they are different in the first place. I mean people can hate each other within communities , families , friends. It is very hard to mix with someone different. In many years globalisation will change thinking , just will take time.Originally posted by Tarquin Farquhar View PostThe point is, we are supposed to prove that it works.

Labour plan another 20,000,000 people here from diverse backgrounds, mostly non-English speaking, non-Christian and non-educated.
Enjoy.Comment
