So what you have done isn't: desertion, drunk driving, escaping from prison, incest, libel, smuggling, or joy riding.

But could be: adultery, bigamy, mayhem, prostitution, or lewdness.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

It could be quite a lot of other things too !

Anyway, who hasn't committed adultery ?

I suppose if you can justify bigamy, it's not adultery.

I was in this position a few years ago - I applied for a B1B to save the hassles of the questioning at US Immigration every time.

Which reminds me, that Visa is in my old passport, I better go look for it as I might have a trip coming up....

Follow up question: I've been to the US several times since my arrest, each time on the Visa Waiver Programme.

So if I "fess up" now to the arrest, might that prove that I'd been dishonest on my previous visits, and might that be grounds enough to refuse me entry this time?

Maybe. There's no way of knowing if they'd have barred you without applying for a visa.

I suggest you get an ACPO report and see what it says. If it's clean (arrest records can drop off), continue as you have been. If it's not, take the risk that they still won't know or take the risk of trying to get a visa.

FYI, Russell Brand, previously convicted for drug offences is allowed in. Just because you've got a record doesn't mean they won't let you in.

I need to double check, but I completed the ESTA visa application, for my partner and I, a few weeks back ready for a couple of weeks in Hawaii, seemed a smooth enough process, except the smallprint that said those with "minor offences" will get strip searched and internally examined for a minimum of 3 hours on entry to the US.
