I think benn0 has gone. I don't think he understood that argument anyway.

Look, within a few years we are going to have to go through all that again, to clear up the latest Labour mess.

Every new generation forgets what the previous one went through, gets seduced by fluffy-bunny socialism, and votes them back in.

And each time Labour last a bit longer, finding new ways to hide what's really going on under the surface.

Which means that what they leave behind is a bit worse than the last time. That is a sobering thought.

By the way, whoever mentioned John Prescott is spot on. The man is a fool, an idiot, and how the hell he ever got into any position of authority, in any walk of life, is frankly beyond me.

Tough on Crime , tough on the causes of Crime

The British Retail Consortium has disclosed that crime cost shopkeepers more than £2bn last year, an increase of 9 per cent on the past 12 months.
It estimated that items worth £589m were stolen by the public in 2004, a rise of 44 per cent, attributing much of the crime spree to drug addicts stealing to fund their habits. Losses blamed on staff leapt by 77 per cent to £498m.

The retail sector spent another £710m on anti-shoplifting initiatives, bringing the total cost of crime to the high street to £2.13bn.

The consortium also said that attacks on staff by customers rose by 14 per cent, while there was a 35 per cent increase in reports of verbal abuse of staff.

Oh yes, this year bliar will be mainly desperate to push forward his reforms to be remembered in history, will fail because of the growing concern from the backbenchers and Cameron’s perceived support for bliar's policies and not browns, and will be gone by the end of the year to give brown enough time to make him unelectable.

              Big Bruv

              http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.../05/ndna05.xml

The government was accused last night of compiling a national DNA database "by stealth" as police reported a rapid increase in genetic profiling in recent years.

New Home Office figures estimate that by 2008, the samples of some 4.2 million people - seven per cent of the population - will be contained on a central criminal database, which is growing by about half a million a year.

The system, which held only 700,000 samples when Labour took office in 1997, now exceeds three million and includes 140,000 from people never charged with any offence.

Proportionately it is easily the largest DNA database in the world and is 50 times the size of the French equivalent.

The next largest is in Austria, where less than one per cent of the population is included. The coverage in Germany and America, is half of that.

The growth in the UK database has followed several legal changes allowing the DNA taken from people who are acquitted, or arrested and questioned but never charged - or even cautioned - to be retained indefinitely.

No other country gives its police greater freedom to obtain, use and store genetic information and most remove the profiles if the person is acquitted or not charged.

Opposition parties and civil liberties campaigners complained that the British database has effectively become a "permanent list of suspects" containing the DNA of thousands of people who may have done nothing wrong.

This is a perfect example of New Lie mentality, i.e. complete state control.

Cameras and road tolls so the position of every vehicle is known at all times. Database of everyones DNA, so that every individual is tagged and classified.
All electronic communication stored and accessed by the government.

Now you know why from 1st January the police are now allowed to arrest anybody, anytime, even when no offence has been committed, as long as it is considered "necessary" - got to get that DNA database complete somehow.

Just renewed my car insurance over the phone.

Now there is a central database containing the insurance details of every motorist which is accessable by government and police organisations.

And they have the cheek to add on 5% inurance tax to the policy.

What the **** is insurance tax supposed to achieve?

Discourage people from taking out too much insurance?

Socialists, please explain the reasoning why insurance should be taxed other than as an easy stealth tax on responsible people?

It's to raise tax revenue to fund the hospitals, the schools, the emergency services. A very good cause and thanks for contributing.
