The US has control over its burden.

You call that huge US debt as "controlled"? I sure hope we'll never see it being uncontrolled then!!!

A proper example would be California in USA that lost (like Greece) control over it's debt - bigger federal entity (USA and EU) help deal with this problem. If either were outside of such bigger entities then they'd go bust.

UK is outside.
