    Anyone watching currencies today?

    GBP/USD:

    11:15 - 1.5843
    16:15 - 1.6035 (and counting)

Wish I saw that one coming...

    Boomed!

Look at the pair of 'em against the euro.

Gordon Brown. What a man, what a leader. Yowzer.
How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror.

Yep, made some pips shorting gbpusd yesterday and then eurusd today.

Didn't see the exponential upmove coming in the £ pairs this afternoon, but I had taken profit this morning anyway.

If anyone has an explanation (apart from thin Christmas liquidity) as to why the upmove happened, I would be interested to hear.

I made some pips shorting EUR/USD as well today

Just read that GBP/JPY rockets upwards more than 250 pips to 3-week high today.

Something happened this afternoon that I can't find any news related indicators for

All my charting software has to say about it is:

The [POUND] making a late year, but spectacular leap. More colour here with traders reporting a German seller of Eur/Gbp as the mainstay of this move. Obviously liquidity at a new low for one name to have been singled out as the mainstay of the move.
              What's german for Gordon Brown?

No doubt CNBC will retrofit a reason as to why the £ went up later!
