Northern hemisphere pagans will not be at all surprised to find that a mid-winter festival is part of local māori culture here but the colonists ignore that and impose Christmas as the official two-day holiday, even though it is in the middle of summer.

If you want it bad, try living near the equator where my altenate location is. Although it is still north of the equator and does have a sort of winter. Nice this time of year, but can be a bit chilly as sometimes it drops below 25C.
