what would get me breathless and feeling good? (Other than the obvious which is not an avenue of pelasure at present.....)
What about walking?
Just walk up hill if you need more exertion:
Say you want to burn 200 Watts, which I gather a reasonably fit person can maintain for an hour.
Power = Mass (Kg) * g (10 m/s^2) * Velocity (m/s) (K (your fitness) + sin(theta))
So if you want to burn at a rate of 200 Watts and you weigh say 100 Kg :
200 = 100 * 10 * V Sin(theta) + say 50 Watts for your basel walking fitness
That's sin(theta) = 0.15/V
So at 1 m/s (~2.25 mph) walking speed you need a hill with a 9 degree slope for a good workout.
You can also adjust this by changing your mass, e.g. by pushing a bike uphill, which I can testify is fecking hard work.
My hip has become very sore over the last few months, not getting any better.
I enjoy aerobics and jogging, when I push myself my joint gets unbearable, but a little seems to ease it for a while.
Hopefully it will be a case of getting referred for a cortisone jab and to take things steady, but, it is a fine balance of not exercising at all and continuing to the point of wearing out the hip.
I jog gently for around 2 miles a day, days I do not jog I do an hour long high energy but fairly low impact aerobics class.
Seriously considering cancelling the docs and just carrying on, but will face whatever music there is………
