We have a light which comes on when anyone comes onto our driveway. I dont know if its any good as a deterrent, but we've never had anything nicked.
I'm sorry, but I'll make no apologies for this

I find the 12-foot electric security gates and 1/4 mile private driveway seem to deter most unwelcome visitors.

If you search for a previous Wilmslow CCTV thread you will find some suggestions from me. Most cheap CCTV cameras have night vision.

Seriously, unless your front garden is no larger than a handkerchief, gravel can slightly deter trespassers because it's impossible to walk on without making a crunching noise.

I had a similar problem – all over a neighbour who had gone nutty.

I got an infra-red camera from Amazon, and the all-in-one-cable, with an outdoor microphone as well. Got a 24/7 time-lapse video recorder from Ebay (like garages have), if on 8 hour setting you can get clear sound recorded despite being VHS tape technology.

The infra-red glow is a very good deterrent, so, if you want just deterrent factor, get the camera and plug this in, and don’t bother with the recorder or mic.

                Hope this helps……
