I love all Christmas songs. I was heartened to see a young lad in town carrying a copy of Mr Blobby on 45 today

Not originally intended as a Christmas song maybe, but released as one when the record label spotted the line "wish I was at home for Christmas" and has blighted all our lives ever since becoming a Christmas hit in 1980.

Agreed - an excuse for the lame minded to wheel out pathetic crap over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over arrrgghhh! One Christmas I asked the barman in the hotel if he would please change the CD after we'd endured weeks of the same crap (Christmas songs) - he said head office had told him he had to play it, so I wrote to head office, who finally agreed he could put something else on.

Except maybe John Lennon's "So this is Christmas", which I like just so long as I don't have to hear it in December.

I loathe all of Lennon's solo work - it is all truly awful - Imagine is the worst, but they are all dire.

Maybe it does accurately portray the hope he had - I don't care - he may as well have written his hopes for the future on some bog roll for all I care, it is a tulipe song like all his other solo work.
