I'm sure that they would reflect on why people would do such a thing.

If you are going to bully forum members so the extent that the moderators feel inclined to leave, if you are going to go on other forums as a result and post that (for example) "the witch is dead" when they resign, if you are going to go onto other forums and name personally someone on a different forum and hurl abuse at them (when they aren't even a member of that forum, and are oblivious to what is being said about you), then you should be prepared when someone wants to have a trip to your own forum. Particularly since they market themselves as being the friendliest forum of that ilk.

In this instance, the holiday was very much a case of "what goes around comes around" / "you reap what you sow".

I am sure that's what McKinnon thought as well

I'd say you are no better than them - frankly what makes you think other members of that forum got anything to do with your petty issue with someone from there?

It's certainly what I think. If those incompetent tosspot Merkins that like to pretend they are the Police Force for the World can't even set a password on a defence system, they deserved to be globally humiliated.

God only knows how much the Chinese had trawled before this all came public: probably all of it.

Do you think if I leave my car keys in engine of my car whilst going to petrol station to pay for fuel entitles the thief to be immune from prosecution?

It certainly doesn't - thief remains a thief, the only issue here is that insurance will most likely get invalidated, but this won't prevent any legal claims against the person who stole car in the first place.

I'm sure we've had this argument elsewhere. But let's do it again, anyway.

A better analogy is you leaving the back doors of your fully-laden bullion van wide open on the side of a busy high street when you pop into Starbucks. I come along and put a bloody great sign on the side saying "AtW Bullion Security Ltd is pants and my gang are going to nick all your gold!" I don't pinch any gold.

Instead of rapidly implementing a security policy and contacting me and giving me a good bollocking, you choose to tell the world I have vandalised your van with my Blu-Tak notice and you have had to spend £700,000 re-spraying the entire fleet and changing the locks. And that it is all my fault and I should get 60 years for it.

He didn't steal the car. He did look in the glove compartment of your publicly-funded vehicle for proof you were fiddling your expenses, but he didn't steal anything.

                No let's not.

The matter of fact is that McKinnon broke the law that is punished harshly but fairly. While I do not think the law is broken in this case, it is certainly not a nice thing to make such holidays - this includes making rubbish posts in other blogs about chutneyspoons etc, IMO this sort of stuff should remain on here (since it gets tolerated) and not taken out unless invited.

In this particular case situation even more petty given alleged conduct of one of the moderators of that new forum, this goes well beyond "normal" CUK "holiday".

He gained unauthorised access that is punished (correctly) by law.

If he had found any real data that would have been in public interest to disclose that the Govt was hiding, then MAYBE his actions could have been justified, however that's clearly not the case.

I'd love to know how many people were doing that .

Maybe that's why the government (with its record of shredding evidence and assassinating scientists) has been forced to close the MOD's UFO centre ... to destroy the data they do have that would prove McKinnon was right to be looking for a cover-up BEFORE he is extradited...

Isn't it funny the extradition gets delayed just before the news of that closure is announced?
