        I know the language thing has taken over the thread but that probably was not my first point, although I probably did not articulate it that well initially.

        I think they are treating the reader like an idiot who does not know what a GP is despite acknowledging that the person has already seen a GP and then go on to explain what a GP is by using the American term 'family doctor'.

        The letter is addressed to the burd and uses Dr as her title in the same letter, I would think after 15 years of being a GP she is fully aware what GP means.

        The Government should be using an adult level of correspondence and teach people to gain an education capable of understanding that level of correspondence rather than treating us collectively like idiots, unable to understand what a GP is.

        And, yes, why do they have 21 versions of the letter?

          My first software job in my first job out of uni was to internationalise a product and make a German version of the software.

          I got all the text out into a properties file, sent it off to a translator and pluged in back in, the noticed I had missed a few lines and tried to bodge my way though the mistakes with altavista translator, I got hell for it when a German looked at the software. First lesson learned.
