For what it's worth 310 g/km CO2 although it failed its last MoT on emissions so must have been better than that.

That'll be £35 road tax then, I've thought about getting a small diesel to deprive the government of tax revenue but that would be like giving in, can't win.
Science isn't about why, it's about why not. You ask: why is so much of our science dangerous? I say: why not marry safe science if you love it so much. In fact, why not invent a special safety door that won't hit you in the butt on the way out, because you are fired. - Cave Johnson

280 g/km in standard spec - with my super charger on - I am not sure but most likely a lot more - it gives 30% more bhp - lets estimate 380 g/km

              292g/Km

I have excuses though as my car was just bought for fun and at most 8000 miles a year.

I always fill the tank for my diesel with leaded petrol from the local specialist vintage cars garage. If you can't damage a few kids' brains when driving there's no fun in it.

Because of the limited number of stations available for me to watch I had the ‘pleasure’ of watching pimp my ride on the German MTV channel. They had governor Arnie on it saying how they needed to pimp a car and make it environmentally friendly. What they did was take a 42 year old rust bucket and put a 6.2l engine from a truck in it - good luck to the poor sod owning the car - lets hope he lives close to the one and only diesel pump in California. There resulting car could out accelerate a lambo and did 25mpg! That's the yanks idea of environmentally friendly but it was ok because it used bio diesel which came from seeds apparently!

As I am bored I decided to have a go at working out what someone flying to Gevea weekly would produce in CO2 compared to someone driving 40 miles a day in an average-ish family car. Tony, I know you fly to Geneva and this is not a dig at you because for a start I don't beclieve all this crap - just though i would do a comparison.

                    Plane

According to this site, the amount of carbon produced flying LHR to GVA is 0.19 Tonnes, 938 miles travelled, cost to offset £1.62

Now, if 100 people are on that plane then each passenger produces 190 Kg /100 = 1.9Kg.

This does not state the type of plane used, its capacity, etc.

                    Car

                    A car producing 169 g/km (Audi A4 avant 2.7TDI) travelling 40 miles one way is 400 miles/week which is 248 km. 248km * 0.169Kg/Km = 42 Kg.

                    If it was of equal distance (938 miles) 582 Km * 0.169 Kg/Km = 98.3 Kg.

Shirley not. Can someone check my working out as I think there is something not quite right there.
