Manufacturing was messed up by the socialists, Thatcher deliverd the medicine that was prescribed by the state of the economy at the time she came into power. I will accept that in hindsight she should have somehow (and no one here knows where the money would have come from) invested in infrastructure projects in order to give the economy some momentum.
But to hate her? To pour vitriol on her about side issues that have no affect on your lives is remarkable. If your hate is about the closure of grammar schools (which is clearly a smokescreen) then why not look at the broader picture of grammar schools, their desirability and the reasons why they havent/have flourished. You people have a deeper problem with Thatcher and you are prepared to pick up any stone or brick and hurl it, without explaining any sound reason.
I still maintain that she destroyed the myth that socialism was a benign force and she made it crystal clear that she believed that people in society should be free and responsible. She gave a kick in the boll**ks to those in society who think that the rest of society owes them a living and the hypocrites who think that pretending to be a socialist means that you care about others.
