when times are average, I take what I can, take a few holidays.

when times are tough, I stick with the client rather than jacking it (thanks missus) and take extended holidays.

no grudges, no hard feelings, no recriminations.

    its business.

    orrect.

The OP is talking a pipedream IME about taking revenge.

    What a piss poor mindset.
I couldn't give two fornicators! Yes, really!

        EO,

are you suggesting he simply needs to go and pull a bird ?

ie, it would appear he hasn't been getting enough lately ?

        Milan.

Bollocks. "a piss poor mindset", it is called being a good contractor and knowing how to seek out extra money.

First thing you should be doing in an upturn is planning the "They will not survive without me so I'm leaving if you say that rate to me again" or the "it's not as much as I am being offered already" call.

Agents and Clients have been bleating on about rate cuts for 2 years now, the OP is right, when the worm turns it is out turn to bat and bat hard we all should.

You have been trying to prove you are hard in negotiations nearly every day you are on here but it looks like you know feck all aboout the industry as we all suspected from the start. Pussy.

Just how high can we hike the rates?

Shall we then all build up such enormous savings accounts that we can say to clientco/agent 'fuq you' as soon as the words 'rate' and 'cut' are mentioned in the same paragraph? Wouldn't you love to do that?

Or shall we all end up buying flash cars, boozing all the money away and then tulipting ourselves in glorious technicolour when the next recession comes along?
It won't. It's going to get much worse until the powers that be force through their agenda. It's kind of a global change management thing. Until people hurt enough to embrace the change it will continue.

But then, after this, in 3 or 4 years time, fill your boots.
                  I'm not helping am I?

                  Sometimes people shouldn't post. Sorry.
Knock first as I might be balancing my chakras.

I don't get that at all.
First of all, the market for my particular skills doesn't seem to move in sympathy with any other cycle i can recognise.
Secondly, I dont think its wise to get @rsey when the market is such a small one.
They all know each other probably

maybe it works for you son. But not for everyone

                      hmmm,

I think we're all getting confused here,

                      let's take a step back,

all this, 'the OP' etc, and then quoting and quoting it's confusing who said what and who is replying to what

can we all please from now on, follow the MilanBenes Invoicing Ltd example and explicitly name the poster we are referring to

                      tia

                      Milan.
