Yid army

I remember being shouted at when I was a kid that I was a yid.
To me it is an offensive term.
And it used on the football terraces as a racist chant too.
Sometimes people may use derogatory terms against themselves, and I think that is possiby acceptable. Like Samuel L Jackson using the term N!gger in Pulp Fiction.
But would you call an Afro/Caribbean person a N!gger if you werent one yourself???'Orwell's 1984 was supposed to be a warning, not an instruction manual'. -

i can assure you that the post had caused offence to at least one other member. however, unless i hear to the contrary, i too consider the matter closed, with the rider that we should best avoid possible sources of offence in future.
cheers

What the hell is the world coming to? Everyone who is a football fan knows the back story behind why Spurs fans call themselves yids. Finding offence over this is about as dumb as celebrating Winterval.
I support the "Mighty Whites", but that doesn't make me a white supremacist.

Seen someone say **** the pope on here, he removed it a few hours later, same poster defended the use of the term fenian and said that the famine song was just a laugh.
Nothing was done about that.Comment

i guess you're assuming that every thread is read by every mod. i believe that just isn't possible but we'll certainly try to respond whenever we receive a complaint from a member or when we do spot something ourselves.Originally posted by minestrone View PostSeen someone say **** the pope on here, he removed it a few hours later, same poster defended the use of the term fenian and said that the famine song was just a laugh.

Scousers, geordies, makams, hammers, the arse, manks, tykes, the iron, carrot-crunchers, villains, brummies, tractor boys, cobblers, hatters, all blacks.
I'm uncomfortable with wanting this term banned.Comment
