I can see why people want rid of Vista, but if you have XP SP3 all running nicely, there really isn't much need to go to Windows 7.

I'm sure Windows 7 is XP with a new splash screen and less drivers.

They've got a few good kernel changes, I wish they were backported to WinXP, but there is no way it will happen.

I installed Win7 few times and spend forever trying to locate HDD management console - simple to find in WinXP, impossible in Win7 - and that few times after I found it there, it's just not memorable

Also classic mode does not look close enough to WinXP classic

Can someone do a decent job of a clone of this thread, entitled "Wilmslow 7"?

Thank-you. But what's the point of putting it there where all context is destroyed.

having installed the RC version of Windows 7 for testing I'm still using my XP instance for working on and just now I found myself missing some Windows 7 features

After a bit more testing this weekend I might need to place an order soon me thinks

I upgraded one PC from Vista to Windows 7.

The built in network adapter, cheap video card, usb subsystem, SATA controller all failed to be recognised, turning that PC into a useless brick.

I use the old PC's as room heaters running http://www.gpugrid.net/ on the graphics cards and http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ on the CPU's.

I get a warm room and you get a cure for cancer.
